Winter came today. 10 centimeters of the white stuff flew down this morning, coating the trees, houses and roads.
We even got our first snow day from work. It was coming down heavy at noon when the notice came out. Freezing rain to follow, get home before the roads turn to ice.

I don't need to be told twice. There's nothing I hate more than driving 25 kms through a snow storm to get home. Especially when conditions are 'slippy'.
And it turned out to be a great afternoon to get started on that Christmas baking.
It is like being let out of school early. Enjoy your free time. We had our first flurries of the season today. :) I love to see that white stuff...when I am at home.

DeleteIt's mild and rainy here on the south shore of NS. No baking done yet, but weekends are coming up. Stay off the slippy roads!
ReplyDeleteSandy, I managed a couple dozen butter tarts to start. I like baking but find it so time consuming. It was nice to find myself with extra time to do it.

One of the many things I really like about living here. They have some understanding of work/life balance and you're not expected to risk your neck to get to work in bad conditions.

DeleteWow snow. Everybody is getting it but here and I love the white stuff. We have been snow deprived all last year and this year is looking pretty similar. Up to 50° later this week, so they say. I may have to enjoy snow further north and west.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately it didn't stick around too long. Our temperatures have been wildly up and down. I find this time of year so hard. Not warm enough to be outdoors but not cold enough to want to stay in.

DeleteMy husband is from Wisconsin, we own a jeep... such conditions prompt road trips at our house. As long as we take less-traveled country roads I don't mind. I figure we can drive in it but I am afraid of the folks from here (Texas) who don't know how to drive in slippy weather and are in a hurry.

DeleteWe're still waiting for the snow to arrive here. Very ambivalent as to whether I want it to come or not. I agree about driving in a snowstorm, it's no fun.
