We started with this
Then removed the gutters
and replaced rotted faceboards with only a minimal amount of cursing.
Then these guys came
and it got a little messy
and finally we got this

And I found this
coming up in the paths of the vegetable garden which made me smile. Chamomile, cilantro and lemon balm have all self seeded.
M - you are living my parallel house life up north there...my house is getting 'new' hair in the next couple of weeks. The old roof is close to extinction. :)!
ReplyDeleteyou too!! best of luck Jess. I can tell you it's LOUD and be sure to get dressed early in the mornings. I learned that the hard way, wandering around in my pj's only to find a roofer on a ladder outside the window.

DeleteWow, the roof looks great. Hope to see some more pictures when it is all completed. Poor peony but I'm sure it will continue to grow, just a little misshaped this year.

We're still spending a lot of time picking up shingles and bits of paper and nails. The mess is rather traumatic but so nice to pull up and see the roof looking so nice. I'll take some photos soon.

ReplyDeleteNorah, one of the reasons I have never bothered too much with the beds directly around the house was I knew there would come a day when the roof and painting would need to be done and all hell would break loose. I'm surprised more damage wasn't done actually.

There you are Frances! I wondered where you had disappeared to. The roof is an immense relief. I had thought we would wait all summer to get it fixed. The plant sale was a roaring success, people lined up an hour before opening but I still managed to bring home a couple treats for myself.
