Pheline Photos

One thing I never seem to be short of is cat photos.

When I head into the yard there is always a furball or two at my heels.

Sometimes they willingly sit and pose for the camera.

Other times they are preoccupied with their own business.

Board meeting
We started the year with three cats, added a fourth in spring, and now this winter there are only two.

Hard to say if the numbers will go up or down in the future.

But I do know that my house just isn't a home without a cat in it.

Cats are great companions, love the picture of them just under the deck edge. I seem to have a lot of pictures of my dogs, sometimes unknowingly. Pets add a lot to life.

I looked hard at that photo of the porch floorboards until I could see two pairs of little ears just peeking over the edge. Heh.

Marguerite girl I never get tired of looking at cat pictures .. each one has it's own individual personality and I love seeing that .. you have some wonderful ones here! .. Unfortunetly I had to chase a neighbor's cat our of our back garden .. John puts seed out for our doves and little sparrows .. so it is a no cat zone but they don't get that ? haha

My favorite quote, in fact I have a card in my line with that on it. I had a great photo of the nicest orange tabby that used to greet me when I walked down the alley...

He's famous, lol.

Our old cat Phoebe was something of a character. When Judy and I went out to inspect the garden, she would always accompany us. If we stopped to inspect something, she would always place herself in front of whatever we were looking at. When I walked the kids to the bus stop she would insist on following about ten paces behind. This caused some comment as she was jet black.

Board meeting or Bored meeting ..ho hum...another miserable sunny day...))))

I miss my two Salt Spring Kitties...but they aren't far away in spirit.

Always enjoy your cat postings.

Cats are such great company!
My cat follows me around everywhere and we have a great bond. He is 11 years old and is getting a bit old now. I used to have two, brother and sister, but the sister sadly disappeared in 2004. I also have so many cat photos, I do post them now and then.

I grew up with cats and I miss them. My husband is severely allergic to them so they're not a possibility in our house. :( I love your cat postings because they're as close to a cat as I can get.

I love cats, too. I can't imagine life without one - or two. Love the photo of the cat sitting in the field of flowers.

Cats cats cats, I love the pic with the two of them ears up just enough to see off the deck. I had one for 17 years and not a cat can take her place and hasn't yet. they are great company inside or outside in the garden.

Such sweet pictures of your cats. I think cats actually like gardens and love to look and smell the wonderful flowers growing.

love cats .. have always had them during my lifetime .. now, though, i'm more intent on having birds in the yard .. however, in the last two years we have two new neighbours with three beautiful cats between them .. who consider it a challenge to come into our bird friendly yard for hunts .. it's a toss up for me .. cats or quail ..
your cats are so beautifull ..

Janet I do the same thing. I take photos of the garden only to realize there's a cat or two in the frame.

I wasn't sure if people would notice but I love that photo. When we first moved here we saw this a lot as the cats were still wary of us and they would hide just slightly out of view but close enough in case we happened to have food with us.

Trying to teach a cat not to chase a bird is hard work! One reason I don't actively encourage birds at our house, that just wouldn't be fair.

I think so too! My camera automatically goes straight to them.

Almost as famous as Boo? :) I had to show my husband pictures of Boo and his 'milk mustache', he's such a handsome boy.

I can just picture a black cat following you around. What a sight that must have been. Amazing how each cat has such distinct personalities.

When they sit around like that staring at each other I always wonder. Cats say so much with their body language, there's probably a whole conversation going on there but I'm not fluent unfortunately.

I try not to overwhelm with all my cat photos but like you, every now and then I just can't help myself. How wonderful to have your cat for so many years, it's nice to have such great company isn't it?

Tammy, I just love photos of your dogs! My husband is not particularly fond of dogs so cats rule in our house. Thanks to the internet for letting us enjoy each other's lives so much.

The light was hitting those flowers just so, the perfect photo opportunity. One of my favourites as well.

17 years is a long time, it would be difficult to think of any cat taking another's place after that amount of time.

I agree, something about cats, they really seem to appreciate clambering among the flowers, smelling them. They're always happy to follow me around when I'm working in the yard.

Marguerite said...

That would be hard, quail are so pretty but they're ground birds - easy pickings for a determined cat. I love bird feeders but there's no way we can have them with cats running about.

I had to look twice to see the two pairs of ears peeking over the floorboards--so cute! Our cats enjoy roaming the garden and yard, too, but now that it's so cold, they have to content themselves with "bird TV" from the living room window:)

Marguerite said...

At this time of year my pet cat Gino (the cinnamon tabby above) is the same. Much too cold for him, his favourite spot is the back of the living room chair which faces a large window so he can watch the birds.

I love cats, lovely photos Marguerite, I have been thinking more and more recently of having a cat, for me though the difficulty is what to do when I visit family on the mainland, plus with few trees many birds nest on the ground! I do so love cats though, Frances
