Canoe Cove Plant Sale

It's that time!

Every year the Canoe Cove Community Association puts on a plant sale at Inman Park in Canoe Cove.  This year the sale will take place next Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 9am.  Rain or shine!

There's a canteen open with hot coffee and treats, a playground for the kids and lots and lots of plants.  The variety of plants changes every year so you never know what you'll find but some of my scores from last year include this gorgeous Sea Holly, Oregano and Lady's Mantle.

If you like tomatoes you'll be in luck because I'm bringing all my extra seedlings including heritage varieties such as Bison, Martino's Roma, German Gold and Rosella Purple.

Tomato seedlings waiting for new homes
If you've never been to Canoe Cove take a look at the google map below and follow the purple line from Charlottetown.  Hope to see you there.

Maybe you can swap plants with someone. It's a great way to come out ahead w/o having to spend any money. Have fun!

Good luck with the plant sale. Your tomato plants look lusty. The Martino's you sent me seed for, are so strong and healthy and some of those are also going to a plant sale the same day in our neck of the woods. NICE! I like that. Hoping the German Golds are those from seed I sent to you, big strong fantastic yellow delicious tomatoes. It's great sharing isn't it.

Tammy, I usually work the Friday night prepping before the sale and I'll admit it - I do it so I can get a first look at all the plants coming in! All the money goes toward keeping the community schoolhouse running so I don't mind the few dollars that I inevitably spend.

Brenda, I have so many Martino's seedlings it isn't funny. That seed germinated 100% and all the seedlings were good and strong. Glad to hear yours did as well. The german golds were certainly from you - you wrote The Best! on the packet so I had to try them ;-) They had good germination too. I'll be keeping several of those for myself but there's still plenty to share.

Wow, your tomato plants have come along beautifully. I'm sure you will sell these very quickly. What a great community idea and of course going to a very good cause.
Good luck on your sales and I can't wait to see what you bring home.
I find it hard to part with my seedlings especially when I see the growth and love I but into them but to see other people enjoying the end results and having Tomato sandwiches for lunches, it really makes me smile.

Good luck! It is so nice that your community has a plant sale. We find plant sales on garden tours or at Master Gardener functions, and I enjoy them so much. It is so fun to find new plants to add to the garden. If I were closer, I would love to come to yours...have fun!

I am excited for you with this sale .. I wish I could go .. meet you and buy more? plants!! haha
I have to put up a disclaimer for that little bunny .. he wasn't eating my brunnera .. just sniffing .. he loves the Labrador violets .. and they grow like weeds here so I am not worried about my special plants : )
It is a beautiful day out there but here I am .. in my pajamas .. BIG sigh ... LOL!

Your post makes me wish that I lived closer....but it's a bit of a drive. Well, I will live vicariously through your blog.

It took me an hour to sort through seedlings and decide what to give away. I didn't want to part with any of them! But I can't keep 50 tomatoes in my garden so some had to go.

Give it a couple years and you can come too!

Janet, I've been eyeing up Sea Holly in catalogues for years now so when I got the chance to bring two home there was no question. I'm sure glad I did. Bees love them and so do I.

I was thrilled to find out they had a plant sale when we moved in. I used to volunteer at a Botanical garden plant sale out west and it was the highlight of my year. Working at our local plant sale filled the gap for me.

Oh Joy I hope you feel better soon. At least now you can sit on your deck and just enjoy the sights in the warm sun.

a long drive indeed! LOL We took a couple weeks to travel across. Wonderful trip though, I would strongly encourage anyone to try it.
