Canoe Cove Plant Sale

A reminder for local readers and those visiting PEI this coming weekend.  The annual Canoe Cove Plant Sale will be taking place on Saturday, May 28, 2011, starting at 9am.  The sale will take place at Inman Park.  If you haven't been to the park before I've included a google map of the drive starting from Cornwall.

The park is a lovely venue, right at the water, with picnic tables and a playground for kids.  If you're hungry the concession will be open as well to grab a cup of coffee or muffin while you browse the tables.

This year the sale includes manure, mushroom compost, seaweed, dahlia bulbs, rhubarb and many many perennials.  To give you a taste, here's some of plants I purchased at last year's sale.

Dahlia

yes, the gregarious plume poppy came from this sale

Another Dahlia

Lady's Mantle

Rhubarb and asparagus plants
Also purchased were chives, Golden Glow, a lilac shrub, butternut tree and MeadowSweet.  Lots of plants to choose from!  I'll be there bright and early Saturday morning, hope to see you there.

p.s.  the event is RAIN or SHINE.  Inman Park has covered space available so you can browse without getting drenched!

True a long ride to visit the plant sale, but can always dream of more space to put them. It sounds like a whole day affair with food and fun.

I will have to include Lady's Mantle as one of my favourites. I didn't make it to the plant sale, however mentioned it to my husband who asked me where I would put another plant? Hum, I guess I would find a spot, only to find out he wanted to go geocaching. Your pictures are lovely and your Dahlia is brilliant.

Lannie said: Lucky you, buying more plants! We actually left the island the day of the plant sale..I did discover two lovely rhubarb plants behind my little barn tho, and forgot to pick some to bring home..My yard here was amazing..so many things blooming..we worked terribly hard on the farmhouse, most days were very cold or rainy. Someday we'll meet at that plant sale I hope..have fun with all your gardens..Lannie

I hope the sale went well! The trouble with being away every weekend is that I've missed a lot of the plant sales this year.

Just wondering how the plant sale went and if Lady's Mantle comes in different colours, like a deep burgandy? I think I might have this but didn't know the name of it.
