Mission Accomplished!

So the beds have been built and dug, the soil added, the layout is coming together and FINALLY the vegetables can go in.  I attempted to plant a specific number of seeds per square but that went to hell in a hand basket pretty quick. Let's just say I tend to plant seeds like a five year old so some thinning may be required in the near future.

As I plant the Garden Song always runs through my head . . . . "Inch by inch, row by row, gonna make this garden grow..."  If you're not familiar with folk songs and have no idea what I'm talking about turn up the volume and push play.

This song always makes me smile.

The final tally of vegetables for the records includes:
  • Rebel radishes - one square (approx 16 seeds)
  • Chives - one plant in one square
  • Plato romaine lettuce - 1.5 squares (supposed to be four plants per square)
  • Tortoiseshell spinach - 2 squares (9 maybe in the square?)
  • Cilantro - 2 squares (9 per square)
  • Zinnias - 4 squares with 2 plants per square (gimme some colour!)
  • Simpson Elite lettuce - 4 squares (I quit counting)
  • Zesty mesclun mix - 5 squares (basically just threw them everywhere)
  • Chantenay Red Cored carrots - 12 squares (yes we eat a lot of carrots)
  • Chamomile - 2 squares (I find them charming and nicely smelly)
  • Spanish onions - 4 squares
  • First Crop Beets - 1 square
  • Scotia tomatoes - 4 plants
  • Tiny Tim tomato - 1 plant
  • Cantalope - 1 plant
  • French Orange Boy Marigolds - 8 plants
  • Rhubarb - 1 plant
  • Asparagus - 6 plants
There are some squares still open for a second planting.  So far so good.  Now I can sit back and relax and.... oh ya.... right then, more work to do.  On to the flower beds.

Wow, you are ambitious! My veggie list is rather shorter. My next yard will have a bigger veggie patch so I can go hog wild. That's the plan anyway...like I need more to do in the yard;)

@ Laura - You and me both! I've been checking every day for signs of seedlings popping up.

Hi Christine, I guess it sounds like a lot when you read my list but there's much more I would have liked to plant. I'm missing peas, garlic, strawberries...I've already begun a list of what I'd like to have for next year. Geez, I guess I'm ambitous and impatient!
